Today was another gray, cool, windy day. I set off with the idea in mind of doing three round trips to Marsh Park, and what changed my mind was an eagerness to get back to work on a piece I'm composing for our church choir. It's going very well, so I want to continue to "strike while the iron's hot." The anthem is titled How Can I Keep from Singing? This classic hymn text really resonates with me, given the unusual nature of my autobiography, and the muting of my singing (and speaking) voice that I have to endure as a result of the severe 1993 car accident I experienced.
Anyway, today I rode the 17.5 miles in a new record time for me of 1:31:33. The best time I had for it previously was 1:35:39 two days ago, on Sunday. My good pace made it tempting for me to push on for that third round trip, knowing I'd almost surely set a new record for that distance. But music was calling me ...
